While in the western world the so-called “artificial intelligence” is presented mainly as a linguistic achievement (with the purpose of accumulating data from its “interlocutors”), in the far east its main applications are in the organization / automation of industrial production.
The above table shows the deployment of industrial robots in China in 2022 compared to other industrial capitalists. Industrial robots, especially modern ones, are not installed “alone” or individually. Rather, these are robot complexes that can amount to a complete and automated factory. Complex algorithms play a central role in these conditions, as tens of thousands of different mechanical “functions” must be coordinated, errors and malfunctions detected, etc.
Does this kind of gig-automation mean the end of live labor? No! Chinese capitalism, due to its scale, has the luxury of choosing which sectors need what kind of labor and production organization. In practice, priority is given to sectors where Beijing directly competes with Western capitalisms. The explosive increase in production in robotic/algorithmic facilities means aWhat remains for them are the complaints about Chinese ‘overproduction’ and the attempts to protect their own markets with tariffs and other similar measures… “flood” of corresponding goods in global markets. A “flood” that Western capitalisms cannot cope with!
