Cells with horns

Excuse me: with antennas… Researchers never stop! The above, from MIT, built an antenna so microscopic (along with its equipment) that it fits inside a cell. And they boast: an intracellular antenna can open new horizons in fundamental and applied biology… It can operate wirelessly inside a living cell and is compatible with three-dimensional biological systems…

What will the cellular antenna do? Spy? No. It will receive signals (outside the organism…) and somehow affect the cell’s function…

So far, the alienation of cells (and consequently of organisms) has been attempted through biochemical methods (: genetics). Now electromagnetic methods are also being tested…
