Last September (before the elections that elected socialist/activist Gabriel Boric as president), Chile became the first capitalist country in the world to introduce legislation into its constitution for the protection of individual neuro-rights. This involves defining moral integrity and independence as inalienable human rights, in order to protect them against technological developments in neuroscience and artificial intelligence. According to Chilean legislators: …this is the first step in shaping a legal ecosystem that will regulate artificial intelligence and neuro-technologies…
An interesting development for a country that did not force its citizens to get vaccinated and, mainly, relied on regular vaccines, essentially the Chinese Sinovac. How many of the Western oligarchies, one wonders, will pretend to “care about the neuro-rights” of their citizens when they have crushed every trace of bodily autonomy and handed them over (as much as they could) to the pharmaceutical cartels, the geneticists, and the big tech information technology companies?
Meanwhile, it is questionable to what extent the technological totalitarianism that is already advancing will stop before such legislations if there is no active, massive, and uncompromising rejection of its anti-social “wonders” by the populations. And this is quite obvious: theoretically (entirely theoretically!) a strict data protection legislation applies in Europe, even stricter regarding health data. The GDPR.
Good wines…
