In Greek, this harmless (but impressive) insect is called a dragonfly. In English, it’s called a dragonfly. This name was given by Google engineers to a search engine (on Android) that connects any internet search with the user’s mobile number – obviously, anonymously.
The creation of this mechanical hooligan was supposedly a condition for Google to return to the Chinese market: a compromise of the company’s “principles” with Beijing. When the relevant news leaked, it caused some commotion within Google, and various engineers and programmers (who did not participate in the project) resigned.
But… Some department of some company (or some service), somewhere, somehow, sometime, might do such work; and perhaps manage to avoid (why not?) its disclosure….
Which means that daily digital habits / conveniences are proving to be increasingly toxic.
