The world (the subjects of the capitalist world) haven’t even begun to grasp the changes—some of them fundamental—that 3G and 4G communications brought to their behaviors, lives, and views. The unstoppable machine has understood only a little (though the essentials) of what 5G communications hold in store, which are just now spreading. What applications? How popular? With what consequences? We can make reasoned guesses about this; but for the moment only working hypotheses….
As for 6G communications (which Chinese companies and their state have announced they are preparing)—no mention at all!!! No mention? Never say never! The Finnish University of Oulu, one of the largest and best in Finland, considered it its duty to present this 6G future. As their technologists understand it.
So here is an opportunity (of short duration) to make clear (to anyone who is interested) what ideology is; especially, in this case, techno-ideology.
If you watch the 4-minute video you will realize that it has one, and only one “message”: don’t worry, everything will be fine!!! This takes a specific form in the way the people / protagonists are presented: completely ‘80s, familiar, and in no way half-cyborg, as our species is already being shaped…. With a cute finale, all the foregoing falls into “place”: it’s all just for our (your) convenience….
We will not comment on the fact that the limited imagination (?) of the makers of this reassuring video shows everyone typing “commands” – while voice commands are the immediate future. We must, however, note how sweetly the mechanization of everything is being served – through complex algorithms. Did anyone decide? Was it a huge gap in everyday life that, fortunately, the techno-science of 6G (or even 5G) communication, data production and management came to fill?
No! Without the slightest trace of conspiracy, solely due to the dynamic of the ongoing capitalist restructuring, the Bio-informational Paradigm makes surprising advances in waves: technicians and entrepreneurs themselves ‘pose the questions’, they themselves provide the answers… And we are obliged to welcome them, both them and their companies and their ‘answers’, as redemption – from the primitivism of the just-previous industrial revolution…. Capitalism is at its best: it manufactures social needs and, naturally, ‘fulfils’ them!
Already, to the question “what is life” the answer is “the technically mediated”… The “technical” is digital machines; the fixed capital. The rest?
Oh, the leftovers!!! What do they matter if you don’t seriously, empirically, epistemically, documentedly, and not at all ideologically define yourself as the creator of wealth?
