They found a priest, they’ll bury five or six! The hygienist coups are considered (apparently) successful. So much so that the UN secretary-general Antonio Guterres, as decorative as he is well-paid, is asking the organization’s member states to declare a “state of climate emergency”…
Melodrama is not absent from his appeal. If covid had been delayed by a year, the Great Threat and the End of the World would have been the rise in temperature, the melting of the ice, the rise in sea level, the disappearance of all coastal cities on the planet – times a thousand!…. There are many similarities between the rogue and carbon dioxide, the first and worst of which is this: whatever you are, living organism or chemical element, beware of falling into the clutches of capitalist restructuring!
The parasite Guterres calls for the declaration of a “climate emergency” until states reach the point of “carbon emissions neutrality.” Even if 20th-century petrochemical technology were to vanish completely, there would still be a long way to go before the moment of the “return to the new climate normality.” (The logical antinomy between “return” and “novelties” should be noted with particular care… It’s ideological ammunition!)
Industrial cattle farming has already been blamed for the greenhouse effect (calves fart and their burps are packed with methane!) – which means what is already being discussed “for the sake” of covid: since workers in the meat industries fall victim to covid infection, it’s time to abolish them; and for humanity to switch to eco-friendly protein production from bacteria. These fart carbon dioxide too, of course, but at this stage techno-science will pretend it doesn’t know…
Once this has also been done, it will be found that the breathing / exhalation of 8 or 9 billion souls of our species produces unacceptably large quantities of carbon dioxide. In fact, this finding will be one of the early phases of “social responsibility” in whatever “climate emergency state”! The “do not poison your neighbor” is now ripe, after the “do not pollute your neighbor.” Masks will at first be proof of responsibility and ecological awareness, and shortly afterward they will become mandatory. They will not, of course, be surgical. They will have filters to retain the carbon dioxide of exhalation… Contrary to Agaben’s hopes, our species will no longer have a face. It will have a snout…
All this sounds dystopian (and it is). Yet none of it can be ruled out – unless we put a stop right now to the “cough” of the bosses of the 4th capitalist industrial revolution…
Because they have both appetite and resources, and ideas… Above all: they have goals.
