Fullmich: I know you are president of M-CAM International Innovation Risk Management, but this doesn’t tell the world great things about what you do.
Martin: Well, as a company since 1998 we are the world’s largest reinsurer of financially utilized intangible assets, present in 168 countries. That is, in the majority of countries worldwide. Our reinsurance systems include the entirety of patents, patent applications, federal grants, procurement files, government e-governance archives, etc.
Thus, we can monitor not only what is happening but also who is involved in what is happening [regarding intangible intellectual properties]. Additionally, we conduct specific thematic focuses which we monitor on behalf of organizations or individuals, as well as for our own commercial use. Because, as you may know, we maintain three global stock valuation indices, which are the top global ones in relation to the performance of high and mid-cap stocks.
Therefore, our company deals with monitoring innovation as it occurs throughout the world. More specifically, we monitor the economic dimensions of whatever innovation, to the extent that specific economic interests are served by these, changes occur in these interests, etc. Ultimately, our business is innovation and its financing.
This is how the interview that David E. Martin gave to the German lawyer Reiner Fullmich begins a few months ago1. Fullmich is one of the legal leaders of the “German independent commission of inquiry into the coronavirus” that was created in mid-2020, with the initial goal of bringing to court the alleged inventor of the PCR tests, the (fraudster) geneticist Drosten, and those who promoted this particular fraudulent invention in order to construct a “pandemic of cases” so as to support the hygiene terror campaign.
But what about Martin? What value can the CEO of a company dealing with “patents, innovation and its funding” have for us? Precisely that of an insider specialized in something whose role we could not imagine, although we know that “intellectual property” is one of the most important cornerstones of real, applied capitalism: Martin (in this interview) introduces us to the techno-capitalism behind the scenes, behind the terror campaigns and their rhetoric, behind the CEOs and their experts, behind the psyops, into this zone of capitalist “cornerstones” that are not visible – and yet can have (and usually do have) a decisive significance for what is visible.
Martin’s immediately following proposal in the interview throws the first diagonal light on this “behind the scenes”:
For this reason, we have examined over 4,000 patents issued related to the SARS coronavirus, and we have conducted a very comprehensive review of the funding of all manipulations of the coronavirus that generated SARS as a branch of the coronavirus family B.
Patents? Patents related to coronaviruses? Intellectual property rights on viruses upon which funding and business ventures are “built”? Manipulations? Exploitations of coronaviruses? What? Who? When? Where? For what purpose?
Welcome to the basics – even if they seem “unbelievable” for the current very limited experience!
But first, a small digression, indicative of what we are talking about, from what is happening in front of the scenes…
Flying platforms for genetic modification
Insect Allies: Apart from teaching robotic weapons the joy of cooperation and initiative, the American DARPA … wants to genetically modify (and mass-produce) insects in order to deploy them – it says in its announcement – for the protection of crops and the food chain of the American people. It is a “matter of national security” as program manager Dr. Blake Bextine described it:
National security is rapidly threatened by natural threats to the crop system, such as pathogenic factors, drought, frost, but especially by threats that can be caused by state or non-state actors. The “allied insects” program aims to reduce the consequences of such disasters by applying immediate targeted treatments to the affected plants…
Not at all convincing for intelligence above any nationalist militarist bottom. The program provides for genetic modification (via crispr/cas9) and infection of insects with also genetically modified viruses. Which will be transmitted, for therapeutic (says the doctor) purposes to crops.
The thing however screams: it is about the construction of biological weapons, and their carriers, the “allied insects”. Bextine does not completely deny it: Every time a new and revolutionary technology is developed, there are defensive and offensive capabilities… But we deal with the positive trends of enhancing crops… he stated to the washington post.
The research departments of at least 4 american universities (the Bouce Thompson institute and the universities of Penn State, Ohio state and Texas at Austin) have been funded to proceed. As is known “one cannot go against scientific progress” and anyway “we must be careful whose hands” these means are in…
We wrote this in one of the b&g issues of cyborg no 14. In February 2019. February 2019 was a “different era”. “Pre-covid”. In February 2019 we could write ironically that “no one is allowed to go against scientific progress”… only to discover a year later that “science” had acquired magical properties among the ignorant and semi-educated in Western societies. In February 2019, before genetic engineering was violently imposed as the dominant “therapeutic” force in Western (primarily) societies, we could easily argue that biotechnologies are weapons; only to discover a year later that the declaration of “war against an invisible enemy” was metaphysically believed… As well as the fact that DARPA together with pharmaceutical companies with their heavy criminal records were accepted as “saviors”…
Unfortunately, this has happened. It is important for someone to analyze how it happened, and there are lessons that we must digest well. The one certain thing, however, is that from now on we are obliged to confront this sovereignty as well as the entire technological armor of the 4th industrial revolution—not as a future possibility, not as something we have some temporal margin to prepare for politically/cognitively/competitively, but as an existing regime that has already begun to consolidate, and whose masters will try to extend and deepen, exploiting the steps it has already taken since the beginning of 2020.
That is precisely why we must scrutinize the stage thoroughly and, at the same time, keep in mind what lies behind it—the “invisible” elements.
Here is a first portion—something upfront on the stage—relating to our earlier commentary on “allied insects.” We will need it very soon, for reasons we will explain as briefly as possible.
Research for agricultural production or a new system of biological weapons?
Genetic technologies for agricultural use achieve their purposes from a formal point of view by introducing laboratory modifications into the chromosomes of their targets. However, the speed and flexibility of this approach is limited, because genetically modified chromosomes must be inherited vertically, from one generation of organisms to the next. Aiming to overcome this limitation, an ongoing program funded by the American DARPA aims to spread genetically modified infectious viruses that are constructed in such a way as to enter the chromosomes of a specific crop directly, in the fields. This is a genetic modification that is achieved through horizontal dispersion, as opposed to vertical dispersion.
The institutional, biological, economic, and social consequences of the spread of such genetic mutations in a horizontal manner (horizontal environmental genetic alteration agents / HEGAAs) within an ecosystem are obvious. Furthermore, this specific program envisages that the means of dispersing these viral HEGAAs into the environment will be insects. Based on the stated objectives of the DARPA program, we believe that the knowledge to be gained from this program appears very limited in improving U.S. agricultural production or in addressing national emergency situations (of shorter or longer duration). Moreover, there has been no discussion regarding the major practical and institutional obstacles that must be addressed in order to achieve any significant agricultural outcome. Consequently, this program could be considered as an attempt to construct biological agents for offensive purposes, and their means of dissemination—if it involves insects—would constitute a violation of the Biological Weapons Convention (BMC).
The “Insect Allies” program is supported by contracts exceeding 27 million dollars and was announced in November 2016. In July 2017, the first of three consortia announced that it had won a DARPA contract to develop systems for dispersing genetically modified viruses through insects. It is a contract for completing the project within 4 years, with a demonstration in large greenhouses of this integrated and fully functional approach to dispersing HEGAs through insects. Corn and tomato plants are already being used in ongoing experiments, while the announced dispersal insects include beetles, varieties of small butterflies, and moths.
Since it was publicly announced, the Insect Allies program has been presented exclusively as a means for farmers to deal with common problems (drought, frost, floods, pests, etc.). Although two years have passed during which a general presentation of the functionality of this project in greenhouses should have been made, there have been minimal public explanations on how the individual developments in this program will achieve agricultural benefits.
Although the program’s work plan does not fully describe the nature of the “genetic modification factor” that will be horizontally disseminated, it is determined that the viral expression2 of at least genes must affect the plants through a gain-of-function3 process. The means that will enable these gains-of-function are expected to be demonstrated by the consortia collaborating in this program, but the simpler route is through the introduction of genes into the plants’ chromosomes.
Currently, the most obvious candidate method for constructing HEGAs is the CRISPR method for genetically modifying a virus. This method can target specific plant genes to modify their chromosomes, so that their mutation will increase their resistance to environmental challenges or herbicides. The end result of this method will be the use of genetically modified viruses to make mutations in vulnerable crops that already exist in the areas where the virus-carrying insects will be released…
… Two of the three consortia that have been funded by DARPA have publicly identified the plant species they are targeting: corn. This is a crop on which hundreds of millions of people rely to meet their basic nutritional needs, primarily in Latin America and Africa. Despite the controversial nature of what DARPA proposes, this particular agency has ruled out funding programs that target plants of limited significance to global food security. This reflects the character of DARPA and its funding, which aims at real-world interventions, primarily in the areas of defense and security. Although DARPA claims that “no restrictions are foreseen on the publication” of the results of the research of the three consortia, we would note that this could be revised in order to prevent the rapid spread of what could be considered preliminary guidelines on how one might develop offensive HEGAA programs, which would initially target corn crops.
We must restate that weapons research programs are often guided by assessments of competitors’ moves. Consequently, one could say that those involved in programs operating along the blurry lines separating peaceful from military applications are obligated to protect their work…. However, even the mere announcement of the Insect Allies program, regardless of its justifications, may push other countries to develop their own capabilities in this field; in fact, this might already be happening. Such a development will occur regardless of whether DARPA’s program succeeds or not, regardless of whether its results are announced or not.
Cancelling the funding of this DARPA program by the American Congress alone will not close this particular Pandora’s box of HEGAAs and insects/carriers…
There is no misunderstanding. The five specific experts who signed the aforementioned text accuse, as openly and skillfully as possible (scientists, after all…), the American DARPA of conducting research on biological weapons under the guise of “enhancing our agricultural production.” Specifically, biological weapons not directly targeting humans, but rather key crops, where an attack using “genetically modified insects carrying genetically altered viruses to attack plants” would cause hunger and death…
On the other hand, these same specific experts speak (write) in a way that implies that the previous stages of such research are acceptable. Genetic modification of only viruses or only insects? Heaven forbid: these are routine patents and applications…
From a political and ethical point of view, such plans are distorted. But not from a technological one. For biotechnologists, for genetic engineers, turning some kind of insect species (or maybe birds too?) into a “platform” for transporting suitably modified genetic material (: virus…) in order to attack an organism (for example a category of plants… or maybe animals too?) is an “interesting challenge” – while mutating either insects or viruses is already routine. They should feel like Formula 1 car engineers! With the huge difference that the “gears” and “parts” are living material… If there is funding for such distortions, then their results will be called spectacular scientific progress.
And there is funding.
Consequently, the word again to Mr. Martin.
Labyrinth: genetics, patents, HIV – and weapons
… We referred to the International Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses (ICTV) of the World Health Organization, we took the genetic sequences of the virus described as new, and compared them with those genetic sequences of coronaviruses that are already patented, as they had been submitted to the relevant databases by the spring of 2020.
And what we found is that there are over 120 patents [“intellectual properties” of various owners] proving that the declarations about a “new, unknown coronavirus” are completely false! There was no “new coronavirus” at all!! On the contrary, we found patents declared as innovations regarding coronavirus genetic sequences, dating back to 1999. Not only was there no “new coronavirus,” but in reality, what has been happening is that for nearly 20 years various artificially constructed variants have been created and registered as innovations…
Intellectual property, “patents” on the genetic material of coronaviruses? As Martin explains, American legislation prohibits the patenting of natural phenomena or/and laws of nature. The same applies to any natural genetic sequence – hence also to viruses, microbes, microorganisms…
To overcome this obstacle, biotechnology companies (but also university research centers or/and institutes with similar interests) resort to a double trick. Either they file for patenting only small segments of these genetic sequences, or they artificially intervene in them (in their laboratories) so that they are no longer “natural” and, consequently, can be considered “innovations”…
Patenting is not limited to the mutated genetic sequences (and) of coronaviruses. It extends to the methods of “detecting” them, but also to the methods of neutralizing laboratory-mutated viruses. The latter, namely the tests and any vaccines or drugs, can naturally be patented against natural viruses.
By the end of the 1990s, coronaviruses were viruses that infected animals, and the scientific/entrepreneurial interest in them concerned organized livestock farming and/or companion animals. (“Protection of livestock production,” as we say, for example, “protection of agricultural production”…) The patent application for the first coronavirus vaccine for animals was filed by Pfizer on January 20, 2000, with the “target of protecting” dogs: it concerned the neutralization of the virus’s S spike protein… When the patent was approved, it received the number 63722243.
However, the relative technical ease with which the genetic material of (then) coronaviruses (they are a “family”) could be “tampered with” (i.e., mutated) had already drawn the attention, by the late 1990s, of various risk-takers (officially called “pioneers”…) in the emerging biotechnology industry, aiming to intervene in the human immune system under the banner of an “HIV vaccine”! A post and a name served as the institutional umbrella for this risk-taking orientation. The post was that of director of the U.S. “National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases” (NIAID). And the person who held it was Anthony Fauci… (He still holds it).
What, however, was the “idea” and what relationship did it acquire with the (family) of coronaviruses? Given that HIV appeared to weaken the human immune system (more specifically to “kill” T3 and T4 lymphocytes), making the organism vulnerable to various infections that it could normally deal with on its own, the “idea” was the “tampering” of the human immune system through DNA… Already in an interview at the end of 19964 Fauci spoke about new immunization techniques applicable to all types of diseases through intervention in DNA… – with the pioneering approach to treating HIV…
How would this genetic “experiment” on the human immune system be carried out? What were the thoughts of the grantees under Fauci’s and NIAID’s auspices regarding this? The idea was to genetically “tamper” with another virus by adding segments of HIV to its own genetic sequence (to use it as a “carrier”… “vector”… “platform”…) in order to deliver HIV segments into human DNA and thus produce “antibodies” against it!… (Does this remind you of something very recent? It should!)
Coronaviruses, with their “plasticity,” became, by the end of the 1990s and the beginning of the next decade, prime candidates for “carriers”! A virus family that infected animals began to be researched (and mutated…) so that they could “circulate” in the human body…
It wasn’t only coronaviruses that were candidates… Adenoviruses were also candidates… Research, constructions, and initial trials were always conducted under Fauci’s and NIAID’s supervision. In 2009, a group of researchers sent a letter to Fauci asking him to halt trials for an anti-HIV “vaccine” (with factory code HVTN 505), a DNA/Ad5 vaccine, due to danger on one hand and ineffectiveness on the other5.
Ad5 is the code for the adenovirus “carrier”: the same genetically modified adenovirus was used last year by AstraZeneca…
Meanwhile, NIAID and Fauci had another brilliant idea for utilizing coronaviruses: to use them (appropriately modified) as biological weapons! They commissioned (funding it) the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (one of the oldest and most prestigious American universities) to conduct an initial related study. The commission/funding took place in 1999, and the purpose was to create a genetically recombined (mutated) coronavirus that would specifically target the epithelium of the human lung. In short, Mr. Fauci and his shop’s objective was a coronavirus that would cause pneumonia…
The work was done, the genetically mutated coronavirus was constructed with the specified characteristics, and on April 19, 2002, it was patented with patent number 72793276. We assume that given the technological standards of the time, this particular construction was considered a sick marvel. It was perhaps the first time that a relatively simple airborne-transmitted virus, of animal origin that had never been transmitted to humans, was weaponized to cause severe lung disease in our species…
Almost a year after this particular patent was filed, a completely new disease erupted first in China and subsequently in 4 more Asian countries, caused in humans by a coronavirus… The coronavirus was “baptized” after the serious problem it caused: Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome, or, in English, Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome. SARS… Could it be a satanic coincidence that what had already been studied, constructed, and patented on the other side of the world occurred…
Martin claims that SARS was a version of the coronavirus constructed as a biological weapon by the American university on order of NIAID and Fauci (perhaps by himself too…). He also supports (based on the details of the patent) that not only was SARS constructed in such a way as to “attach” to human lung cells, but it also had the specifications to be modified in the laboratory again and again with a simple change of some of its genetic sequences using a computer. It was, in a way, a kind of “base”. These SARS specifications concerned its conversion from a biological weapon into a “carrier” of another genetic sequence, with the prospect of constructing an anti-HIV “vaccine”. Mainly, with the prospect of constructing a method of direct and mass intervention in human DNA… In short, the genetic construction of SARS was such that, with small and easy laboratory conversions, it could be “multi-use”.
Martin says about him in the interview:
… Since the early days of 2000, M-CAM International Innovation Risk Management was asked to monitor violations of international agreements banning Biological and Chemical Weapons7. You will recall the anthrax events in September 20018. We were part of an initial investigation that led to the final congressional investigation, not only regarding the origin of the anthrax, but also concerning the unusual behavior surrounding Bayer’s Ciprofloxacin drug, which was used as a potential antidote for anthrax poisoning.
All through the fall of 2001, we began monitoring a huge number of bacterial and viral pathogenic agents that had been patented by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), USAMRIID (U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases) of the U.S. Department of Defense, the American Infectious Disease Program, and several other international services and organizations with which we collaborated.
Our concern was that the coronavirus was considered not only a potentially manipulable factor for possible use as a vaccine vector, but also, quite clearly, was being examined as a candidate for a biological weapon. And so our first public report on this matter was made before the SARS outbreak…
So you can imagine how disappointed I am sitting here, 20 years later, having pointed out 20 years ago that a serious issue was looming on the horizon regarding the coronavirus…
It was not 2002 – 2003 and the “outbreak” of a technically mutated version of coronavirus (SARS…) the end of the story. Nor could it be. The American geneticists had created “a hundred pounds”!
On April 12, 2004, the American CDC filed a patent application (thus “intellectual property”) for the entire genetic sequence of SARS! If SARS was indeed a naturally created coronavirus, then patenting it would be illegal under American law! It is prohibited to recognize “intellectual property” in any process of nature, and therefore in natural RNA or DNA.
The patent application was no. 72208529 and after being rejected twice, it was finally approved in 2007. Therefore, only two logical possibilities existed regarding it. Either the American state (the “patent office” / public pair) grossly violated the legislation for inexplicable but obviously fraudulent reasons… Or it silently acknowledged that SARS was not a natural creation but artificial, human-made… Ultimately, something happened that may have involved a combination of the two aforementioned possibilities: the CDC bribed members of the “patent office” to obtain approval in 2007, and thus, whether artificial or not, a coronavirus that acted in the human environment (and consequently was feasible to be studied analytically by various researchers for its characteristics) entered a regime of intellectual property.
This specific patent was followed by several others in the following years. Whether they concerned genetic variations of SARS or detection methods (tests) for them: versions of the famous RT-PCR test. Far from innocent intellectual property claims: having the “ownership” of both a virus and the method to detect it, you simply control everything around it! You can say it exists there or doesn’t exist, you can say it’s at such “load” or at a lower one, etc.
The patenting of SARS caused some “concern” (in quotation marks…) internationally. It was most likely a turning point in a series of issues regarding the legal framework of genetic engineering. The Australian academic Matthew Rimmer, in an extensive article titled The Race to Patent the Sars Virus: The Trips agreement and access to essential medicines10 presented a brief overview in a completely moderate and conciliatory tone:
… The network of organizations involved in the SARS research was welcomed as a good example of international scientific collaboration. However, there was some competition among research groups to secure funding and commercial rights from their findings. Groups of scientists from Canada, Hong Kong, and the US managed to decode SARS with remarkable speed. A number of public research organizations filed preliminary patent applications relating to the full genetic sequence of the coronavirus. The most significant were from the British Columbia Cancer Agency (BCCA), the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the University of Hong Kong (HKU). Although the details of these applications have not yet been publicly disclosed, it is estimated that they are extensive enough to allow patent holders to claim rights over most diagnostic tests as well as drugs or vaccines that have been developed or will be developed in the future to treat this disease.
This race to patent the SARS virus requires more careful analysis due to the broader discussions on genetic patenting and public health that have emerged in international forums. It is a case where we have before us a vivid illustration of (in other cases dry) debate over whether patent races are an effective way to allocate resources in the market. There are various distinct positions on this issue: the entrepreneurial spirit of biotech companies; the pragmatism of research institutes; the revisionist experimentation of universities; and the ethical objections of those opposed to patents.
Initially, commercial enterprises argue that a strong intellectual property system is necessary for private investment and research into diagnostic tools, vaccines, and drugs. Secondly, directors of research institutes are reluctant to rely on the intellectual property system to facilitate technology transfer and public access to scientific research. Thirdly, academics such as Richard Gold and Peter Yu argue that the competition to patent SARS highlighted the need for reform of the patent system. And, ultimately, a number of idealists, such as dr Marco Marra, Margaret Atwood, and Jeremy Rifkin, expressed radical opposition to patenting the genetic code of the SARS virus. Such protests touch upon ethical concerns about the commodification of scientific discoveries…
“Natural” the coronavirus strain from the beginning of the 21st century or not? Humanitarian the researches concerning it or for biological warfare? For public health the securing of intellectual property rights or for the opposite, perpetual illness, which is the only one that truly leaves (and huge!) profits?
It’s time to get out of the labyrinth.
Dirty air
If we were dealing with research projects on genetic modification / designed mutation of viruses and any other kind of living organisms, this alone would be absolutely provocative and hostile. It was such, indeed, in the 1980s and 1990s worldwide: the campaigns against genetically modified organisms (GMOs) that have stopped in the “first world” but continue elsewhere have prevented in various regions of the planet the spread of modified organisms into the environment, into the real world.
But the emergence of the patent complex, which everyone could imagine but not know analytically, especially in relation to viruses that attack human beings, clearly shows what we have before us. Patents are “intangible assets” – that’s why Martin knows so much about the coronavirus. They are bought and sold, rented, become the basis of partnerships and cause of quarrels, generate profits (or losses), funding from risky (or “philanthropic”…) sponsors, shares that rise and fall, prestige for all kinds of “saviors”… Patents and patented virus strains are “fixed assets”.
Everyone should have erased from their minds these pastoral notions about “nature,” “risks from nature,” and “natural threats,” especially if they live in the realms of “development” and “technoscientific progress.” These are illusions freely offered to confuse, paralyze, and trap. The word “nature” in the mouths of bosses and all kinds of demagogues and their lackeys is increasingly becoming a political and ideological distraction.
We are not dealing with “nature”… We are dealing with Capital – with a capital “C.” Capital means class exploitation relations. Capital means power relations.
Precisely because we are dealing with Capital, whether it concerns programs of the “Insect Allies so we don’t starve” type or mega-campaigns of the “mRNA platforms so we don’t die” type, we are facing a new kind of war: capitalist exploitation targets (and is reinforced by) micro-scales, nano-scales that escape empirical perception and, consequently, transcend known forms of exploitation and control. By escaping the empiricism that has become the royal road for citizens of neoliberalism, the assault on micro-scales, the micro-physics of capitalist power, produces organized metaphysical and magical notions of the world and reality. Working-class critique is thus silenced not as a (potential) “communist threat” but as “paranoia.” This is not the first time this has happened; however, it is the first time it has happened in this way.
Martin claims that on June 5, 2008, the American DARPA officially expressed interest in the coronavirus family, implying that this interest was manifested through coronavirus patent applications filed by collaborating pharmaceutical companies. We estimate, knowing the basics about the US military technological arm, that interest existed much earlier but that it was unofficial until that point. The active presence of DARPA throughout the “development” of various genetic intervention techniques in the human immune system is well documented, although we understand that a techno-military service does not reveal all of its achievements. Which means that it is involved in far more than what is known.
How, however, could a capitalist war of conquest and control over the lives of all species generally, and human life specifically, be conducted without the active participation of top military organizations such as DARPA? On July 20, 2020, while the first phase of the brutal sanitarian terror campaign had been completed, the establishment Washington Post celebrated and, at the same time, familiarized its audience with the therapeutic value of techno-militarism under the title How a Secret Pentagon Agency Paved the Way for a Rapid Coronavirus Treatment11. There, everyone could read about how important military “seeding” is:
… If it weren’t for DARPA’s investments over the past decade and even earlier, largely outside the radar of Washington’s policymakers, the American race for a vaccine and antibody therapy to stop the coronavirus would most likely not be progressing as quickly as it is now…
… The first company in the US that started clinical trials for a vaccine against the virus was funded by DARPA. [This is Moderna]. The same happened with the second. [This is Inovio]… Some of the vaccines and antibodies related to DARPA may be ready later this year, which means one of the fastest responses to a global pandemic in the history of medicine. Experts say that normally it takes 4 to 10 years to test and produce a vaccine against a new pathogenic organism…
… The years following the September 11, 2001 attacks and a series of anthrax incidents, combined with intelligence information about potential biological threats from abroad, heightened fears of bioterrorism and led DARPA to seek ways of immediate response, including technologies that would accelerate vaccine development, quickly detect the emergence of viruses and speed up pharmaceutical production.A decade ago, a smart Air Force doctor named Dan Wattendorf helped push rapid pandemic response high on DARPA’s priority list… Wattendorf had interesting ideas, which he presented in a press briefing at DARPA’s offices in northern Virginia in 2010… Top among them was producing vaccines and antibodies through genetic code implantation.
Traditional vaccines introduce what is known as an antigen – usually a piece of live or inactivated virus that is enough to trigger an immune system response. These antigens are typically produced through a lengthy process involving cultivating the selected virus inside eggs, in bioreactors.
Wattendorf wanted to shorten this process. He wanted to introduce the appropriate genetic code into the human body that would force the human body to create the antigens from its own cells, eliminating the industrial process. The immune system would recognize the antigens produced by the body’s own cells and initiate a defensive reaction.In 2010, scientists had tested this idea using DNA, with mixed results. Watterdorf wanted to try it with monoclonal RNA… In 2019, a DARPA project that had funded the Massachusetts-based company Moderna successfully completed Phase 1 of a clinical trial using RNA… It was vindication of Watterdorf’s persistence after years…
Watterdorf continued DARPA’s investments in DNA vaccines. Inovio Pharmaceuticals, based in Pennsylvania and funded by DARPA, initiated Phase 1 clinical trials with a DNA vaccine against covid-19… DARPA also funded other rapid vaccine development technologies, including some companies that produce vaccines through protein production from genetically modified tobacco plants, as well as a “self-generated vaccine” platform at the Massachusetts General Hospital…
The army (to be precise, its militaristic technological “ideas”) protects the health of citizens… just as it protects agricultural production… If there is no longer a distinction between “peaceful” and “military” use of various cutting-edge technologies, it is because at this stage of capitalist restructuring, the entire social factory, the totality of social relations, needs, and beliefs, has become a field of imperialist war: the 4th industrial revolution is attacking!!!
Meanwhile, Martin insists: all those things (from a genetic point of view) that were presented as “new elements” of Sars-CoV-2, in order to legitimize in terms of “surprise” and “emergency” the hygienic coup d’état from 2020 onwards, are included in 73 patents that were issued between 2008 and 2019!!…
Seventy-three patents related to a coronavirus variant before it appeared? By the fall of 2019? This is not “divine providence”! It is capitalist:

Is Martin right, I wonder, when he claims that there was no “new” coronavirus in 2019-2020, and that research and experiments on coronaviruses identical or nearly identical to Sars-CoV-2 were already being conducted even for military use?
The English establishment newspaper The Telegraph, as recently as October 5, 2021, in an article that was incomprehensible (even “encrypted”) unless one kept in mind what we wrote above (and even more), under the title “Revealed: Wuhan and US scientists planned to create new coronaviruses” wrote the following (our emphasis):
Scientists from Wuhan and the US were planning to create new coronaviruses that do not exist in nature through the synthesis of genetic codes of other viruses, according to a proposal they made.
Documents from the funding application they submitted to the American DARPA that leaked last month reveal that the international team of scientists was planning to mix data from related variants and develop entirely new viruses.
A genetics specialist working with the World Health Organization (WHO), the person who revealed the plan after first studying the proposals in detail, said that if Sars-CoV-2 was created in this way, this could explain why nothing closely related to it has been found in nature.
So far, the most closely related natural virus to Sars-CoV-2 is a strain called Banal-52, which was detected in Laos last month and shares 96.8% of its genome [with Sars-CoV-2]. But scientists are searching for a direct ancestor that would match around 99.98% – and they have not found one so far.
The proposals at Darpa, which leaked to the Drastic group that is investigating the origin of the pandemic, show that the group intended to take sequences from natural coronaviruses and use them to create an entirely new sequence that would be something like the average of all strains.
The funding application, submitted in 2018, states: “We will collect sequence/RNA data from a range of closely related strains and compare their genomes throughout their entire length, looking for de novo single nucleotide polymorphisms associated with sequencing errors. The candidate genomes that match [each other] will be assembled using commercially available techniques… to retrieve recombinant viruses”.
Explaining this proposal, a WHO associate who requested to remain anonymous for fear of reprisals against him said: “This would mean that they would take various sequences from similar coronaviruses and would create a new sequence that would essentially be something like an average of the others. It would be a new viral sequence, which would not match 100% with any other.
They could then synthesize a viral genome from the sequence with the help of a computer, creating a viral genome that does not exist in nature but looks natural as it is a mixture of existing natural viruses.
Subsequently, they would put this RNA into a cell and create the virus. And thus a virus would be created that has never existed in nature, with a new “skeleton” non-existent in nature but with many, many similarities to the common denominator “skeletons” of natural viruses.”Although the funding application was rejected in 2018, the Wuhan database with virus strains went offline a year and a half later, and this means that it is impossible to identify which strains the team was working with or what it had created…
… The proposal was submitted by British zoologist Peter Daszak on behalf of a consortium that included the EcoHealth Alliance led by Daszak, the Wuhan Institute of Virology, the University of North Carolina, and the Duke-NUS Medical School in Singapore [a product of the collaboration between Duke University and the National University of Singapore].
These specific proposals were in addition to other proposals included in the DARPA documents that were leaked, including the introduction of a [coronavirus genetic sequence] into existing viruses to make them more infectious to humans, as well as vaccinating wild bats with genetically modified spike proteins of viruses…
From some points of view, this is misology. Certainly, one must know the basics to understand what is happening. DARPA rejected funding for this specific “idea,” however there are other sources of funding, in large quantities. There are also other funders collaborating with DARPA, without the specific agency being exposed. Additionally, other funding “ideas” from DARPA have leaked, but it is unknown what became of them.
Perhaps somewhere in the list of patented biotechnology achievements related to coronaviruses, somewhere among the 5,100 patents, or the 73 specialized ones from recent years up to 2019, there might be somewhere the idea of converting bats into “vectors” (or “carriers” of biological weapons?).

The above or some of them could be assembled into a “conspiracy theory”. This is exactly what those who refuse to analyze the modern capitalism that is a continuation but also a projection of the previous and earlier phase of it for almost 2 centuries do. And instead of this, they find it convenient to believe that some plot, some intrigue is being woven against them; that some are drilling to reduce the human population… etc… Such outbursts (because it is about outbursts) serve the bosses just fine.
Genetically modified organisms have already begun to be established. Genetically modified plants, animals, insects12 are already “circulating” – why not viruses too? The concern is certainly justified for viruses that affect humans as much as needed in the bio-info-security complex and all kinds of gaps in it to impose genetic engineering not as a general plan but as “salvation” through “platforms”. But perhaps we should dismantle the entire mesh instead of looking at just one or two points?
The contribution of awareness of the extent of patents only in one species, coronaviruses (5,100 patents is not a small number!) is that we can understand the extent and intensity of biotechnology companies and their expectations. The easy “risk exit,” to denounce one or two companies, one or two bosses, is closed! We are dealing with tens of thousands of “researchers,” with huge amounts of funding. We are dealing with hundreds of more or less well-known companies, with hundreds of universities, institutes, research centers, scattered across the planet.
In short, the biotechnological dimension of the 3rd and 4th (capitalist) industrial revolution is already very extensive, so much so that it is suicidal either to ignore it or to attribute it to a “conspiracy”! It is not the only dimension, not at all. It is, however, critical. Its “development” has almost completely escaped attention; and so now it has size and “weight” (economic, institutional) of a regime.
The fact that capitalist machines (: technologies) are able to capture cells causes great unease and repulsion. The Selves – Capitals, the narcissistic Egos of neoliberalism, were constructed on the belief that everyone controls, at least, their own bodies. It was an illusion anyway – but even that is ending. Just one injection, supposedly “therapeutic,” is enough to hack millions of cells and start them “working” outside any conscious, individual control. The Selves – Capitals are being recapitalized, and so far they cannot even understand it.
Genetic intervention in cells, in another way, can be called the alienation of “nature”. Indeed, when geneticists make mutations in cells (of viruses, for example) or construct completely new “species” of organisms of greater or lesser size, there is nothing to stop them – except for conscious human refusal. “Nature” as such cannot tie the hands of biotechnologists and their bosses. It can only tolerate for some time the monsters they create. The political goal of capitalist restructuring is for citizens to become “nature”, that is, without will and ability to resist and retaliate.
We find ourselves therefore in this historically unprecedented situation. Either we will stop and put under very strict ethical, political, legal and zoological control as soon as possible (should have been from yesterday…) all these “wizards” of life, these “gods” and their companies. Or sooner or later we will end up as naked mammals whose only differences from all the rest of the planet will be that we produce surplus value and have fun with garbage.
