You may have your reservations about those whom the Establishment had early on characterized as specialized idiots – unless, of course, you are one of them… However, from a more humorous perspective, the “experts” offer charming surprises.
Although the promotion started recently (coincidentally??) the research is rather old. In 2016 the study was published in the Journal of the International Union of Crystallography supporting that cockroach-milk contains 300% more calories than bovine milk, which until now was considered the most nutritious milk originating from mammals. According to the establishment Independent (which was very pleased and promoted the study), cockroach-milk is also complete in proteins, amino acids, fats and sugars, making it a complete food.

You also molt feathers – we could ironically add… However, don’t start treating any cockroaches in your garden or kitchen as an opportunity for livestock subsidies from the EU! Common cockroach species lay eggs, so no milk there. However, there is one species that thrives on the west coast of the US (perhaps elsewhere too) that gives birth to live young and feeds them. This “milk” produced by the Pacific beetle cockroach crystallizes in the stomachs of baby cockroaches, in a form rich in protein.
So far, no method of “mass production” of this superfood has been found. Perhaps some mutated evolution of this particular species will manage to fill a few bottles per pregnancy, whenever the “farms” will yield. Or perhaps a good chemical replica will be created, without reference to the original.
Meanwhile, even the most common cockroaches can be “tasty” when fried. Who knows? Maybe Gates?
