Remember the circulation bans during the hygiene campaign of terror? It wasn’t an exception but rather a test of the state of exception that will be repeated in the not-too-distant future with various pretexts.
In various French cities last summer, a curfew was imposed on minors from 11:00 PM to 5:00 AM… to address “youth delinquency.” Nice, Trappes, Nimes, Beziers, Saint-Ouen-sur-Seine, and Villecresnes were some of them.
Perhaps the young people in France are ghosts moving in the dark. However, the measure (which naturally met reactions from those affected, although not “dynamic”) also had some “fine print”: more family, more parental responsibility said a mayor. Which means: fines (for violating the ban) that, of course, go to the family…
And of course more police on the streets. Controlling the main roads seems easier; but what about the narrow streets and alleys? Perhaps hide-and-seek. Obviously, it wasn’t part of the plans, but this way a generation of French children will be educated by actually playing “cops and robbers”…
