The live extension of the machine

Russian biotechnologists are proud because (they claim that) they achieved something unique so far: they connected the brain of a laboratory mouse with an “artificial intelligence” device, forcing the rodent to receive “yes” or “no” signals from the device, and to press corresponding “buttons” in front of it…

The experiment was conducted in the fall of 2024 by the biotechnology laboratory Neiry in collaboration with Moscow University. According to the russian biotechnologists, the mouse’s brain somehow became a “receiver” of the device’s outputs, a living extension of it.

And they have great ambitions, undoubtedly “humanistic”: they want to create such interconnections on demand, so that (as they said) they will connect the human brain with the knowledge of all humanity… We assume that this interconnected human brain will pose questions to the machines “of all humanity’s knowledge”, and the “answers” will be written upon it, as its own conclusions.

The first observation concerns the (understandable) fact that no state/capital that can proceed (even to “pioneer”) the 4th industrial revolution is going to reject this opportunity! If there are hopes for “self-restraint”, they are naive.

The second observation concerns the experiment itself: the same goal is pursued (and possibly achieved) by Elon Musk’s well-known Neuralink. There is no need to advertise it: before they start selling spike-equipped helmets so that everyone can install the modern “libraries of Alexandria” (“the knowledge of all humanity”) in their heads, these applications will be utilized militarily.

Under these conditions, no matter how many interconnected human brains (along with their skulls and the rest of the body) are destroyed, it is certain that “the knowledge of humanity” will multiply. This is called creative destruction…
