When in 1942, during the Second World War, a good portion of the Western physicists’ elite gathered in the US to transform their until-then theoretical knowledge and ideas into something tangible and practical (an atomic bomb…), the American Pentagon made sure to isolate both them and the project from any third-party knowledge. The secret (in this case, of constructing an unprecedented weapon of mass destruction) became henceforth a component of what is called “science.” And if, in retrospect, various contributors to the Manhattan Project declared themselves “repentant” for what they did there, claiming to be fanatical pacifists and opponents of nuclear weapons, it was too late. Much too late.
Someone will say the familiar thing: but if the Americans hadn’t built the atomic bomb, the Nazis would have finished building it first. Perhaps. But this is not an argument that exonerates the “science of murder”! Rather the opposite. It shows that when it comes to such achievements, the difference between a fascist regime and a regime that presents itself as “democratic” is zero. Absolute zero. Except for one point: the citizens of the second are allowed to think they know what their governments and their “experts” are doing – while the citizens of the first know they don’t know.
During the hygiene campaign and the universal onslaught of genetic engineering on our species (in the form of mRNA platforms), citizens were allowed to think they know… The same applies to the assault of complex algorithms of universal cognitive control (: “artificial intelligence”). And again citizens think they know… (As well as in a few more technological “achievements”… They think…)
This time historical ignorance will not be forgiven. And no one will seriously repent…
