If “artificial intelligence” is already so good, so attractive, so friendly, so communicative, it can only get even better! There are many people working on this. Even with unexpected goals.
BabyX is the first truly virtual baby, a project by researchers from the Auckland Bioengineering Institute Laboratory for Animate Technologies in New Zealand. The purpose is to combine machine learning, bioengineering and electronic graphics in order to create a “growing individual” from a complete baby to a young person with intellectual and emotional responses appropriate (each time) to their age…
The goal is ambitious. However, it has interesting arguments in its favor. For example, which “parents” would not prefer such a “digital child” if it covered their emotional needs without the fuss and hassle that comes with raising normal children? And who would not want such a digital offspring (or even more than one) with the amazing “intelligence” of the machine that would cost them far less than enrolling it in expensive schools and universities?
Come on now! Don’t let your conservatism get you caught!!! Some futurists go as far as hoping that this is how the problem of “low birth rates” in the western world will be addressed! Extreme? For now we are in the experimental stage: many already see their underage children mainly in videos on social media…
